Most companies’ Business Continuity Management program
focuses on critical information systems, operating facilities and human resource
and overlooked the importance of vital physical documents protection. Vital
physical documents like legal contracts, high valued purchase documents, staff
records and operation reports are extremely vital to the proper functioning of
an organization and most of these vital documents are required by law to be
kept for a minimum retention period.
Recognizing that physical documents come with the inherent
pitfalls like degradation in paper and print quality over time and difficulty
in sharing, filing, and retrieval of paper documents, many companies are
seeking alternative solutions to improve their business continuity plans as
well as work efficiency in handling these physical documents at their
workplace.
